In 2012, the Fairtrade Foundation is asking everyone to take a step for Fairtrade.
WHY?
• Because millions of people still urgently need a better deal from trade.
• Fairtrade is already benefitting 1.5 million farmers and workers, and if everyone already buying Fairtrade products just put one more Fairtrade item in their basket – went one step further for Fairtrade – we could double that number and make our call for trade justice stronger and louder, proving that there is a fairer way to do business.
WHAT and WHEN ?
• A step is an action that supports Fairtrade.
• In Bolton we are planning a number of ways in which people may take a step for Fairtrade.
• Step into the Town Hall where the Mayor and Mayoress are hosting a FREE Fairtrade coffee morning on Thursday 1st March from 10 till 12. All welcome.
• Step along to watch or participate in the Fun Olympics event for children and young people in the Bolton Market Place from 11 till 3 on Saturday 10th March.
• Step up if you have a football shirt you no longer need. They will be sent through Fairtrade contacts to young people in Africa.
The Fairtrade Foundation encourage us to register our “steps” by going to www.fairtrade.org.uk/step The hope is that at least 1.5 million of us will register – so doubling the amount of commitment and increasing the number of farmers who benefit from our actions. Every step counts!
